A Free Cupcake if I Ride my Bike?!

A Free Cupcake if I Ride my Bike?!

The Bicycle Benefits program, born in Saratoga Springs, is being relaunched in 2024 as part of Bikeatoga’s effort to make the area more inviting to cycling.  Despite building bike lanes and slowing the speed of motorized traffic, there are many reasons that there are so few of us using bicycles as transportation.  Driving is one of the most deeply ingrained habits we have, rarely recognizing that there are other ways for us to move from point A to point B.  But wait! What if we knew that our order at the cafe was ½ the price if we showed up on two wheels?   What if we knew that a bonus cupcake was waiting for us if we biked to the bakery?  This is exactly how it works.  Roughly 30 area businesses have signed on to a Bikeatoga sponsored initiative called Bicycle Benefits to encourage us to leave the car at home and pedal to local establishments.  Instead of carrots, we get coffee, cupcakes and discounts…which may be a little more enticing!

A few of the area offers include:

Saratoga Farmers’ Market-$2 Market Bucks Celtic Treasures- 20% Off

Four Seasons- 10% Off non-sale items Indulgence Bakery - BOGO cupcake

Broadway Grind- ½ Off your order Bevs-10% Off

Darling Doughnuts - Free mini doughnut Allerdice-10% Off

Iron Roost (Ballston Spa) -Free 10 oz. coffee w/any purchase

The program is live and program stickers are now available.  The official kick-off is happening on Sunday, May 19th when Ben & Jerry’s will provide a free cone from noon-1 to anyone who pedals in and shows their Bicycle Benefits sticker on their helmet. Complete listing at www.bicyclebenefits.org
