Advocacy

Bikeatoga supports the development of bike lanes, paths, and traffic-calmed streets that connect local neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces. We also strive to educate the general public about the rights and responsibilities of both motorists and cyclists.

Bikeatoga and its members have been instrumental in the establishment and adoption of a Complete Streets policy in the City of Saratoga Springs, as well as a Safe Routes to School Program in the Saratoga Springs School District.

Bikeatoga founded the Saratoga Bike to Work Challenge. This event has spread throughout the Capital District and is now co-sponsored by The Capital District Transportation Committee.

Slow Rolls

These monthly bike rides are hosted in partnership with Palette Café, Impressions of Saratoga, Bicycle Benefits, Pint Sized, and Saratoga Paint and Sip. These family-friendly rides empower riders of all experience levels to cruise the bike lanes and safer streets of Saratoga in an easy rolling group ride.

Bike to Work Breakfasts

To celebrate Capital District Transportation Committee’s Bike to Work competition in May, for years we’ve held a breakfast in town for the many who commute to work and play by bike. COVID unfortunately impacted our ability to do these and we are looking at the possibility of resume these in the near future. If you are interested in helping with organizing and staffing this event please contact us at info@bikeatoga.org

Bike Travel Film Festivals

In September 2019, we hosted our first Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival, featuring adventure films from around the world curated by the Ciclismo touring company. Months later amidst the pandemic in May 2020 we hosted a virtual festival with our very own content from local filmmakers and musicians. We hope to host more film festivals soon. Unfortunately this has lapsed. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to help us to continue this endeavor. If you are interested in helping organize and run these events, please reach out to us at info@bikeatoga.org
