Who We Are
Bikeatoga, founded in 2005 by Ian Klepetar, is dedicated to pushing for a better future by making functional cycling more convenient, accessible, and safer in and around Saratoga Springs, NY. Our volunteer members work to emphasize the environmental, economic, and health-related benefits of everyday cycling. By working together, we believe that we can create a healthier, more vibrant, and more sustainable community.
Bikeatoga supports the development of bike lanes, paths, and traffic-calmed streets that connect local neighborhoods, schools, and work places. We also strive to educate the general public about the rights and responsibilities of both motorists and cyclists.
Bikeatoga and its members have been instrumental in the establishment and adoption of a Complete Streets policy in the City of Saratoga Springs, as well as a Safe Routes to School Program in Saratoga Springs School District.
Bikeatoga founded the Saratoga Bike to Work Challenge. This event has spread to throughout the Capital District, and is now co-sponsored by The Capital District Transportation Committee.
We also founded and continue to run the Bikeatoga Workshop, a volunteer-run bicycle recycling program designed to repair used bikes and get them back on the streets.
Please join us at our general meetings, held on the first Monday of every month from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at The Saratoga Springs Public Library (Glasby Room – Located in Basement near children’s room), Saratoga Springs, NY. To keep current with Bikeatoga, please join our newsletter here.
